Sarah Dulaney competed in the undergraduate three-minute thesis competition during the Mississippi State University Undergraduate Research Symposium and was selected as Grand Champion. Dulaney and Rachel Adair are both research assistants in the Message Laboratory and participated in the Undergraduate Research Symposium. Adair presented work from the HappyHealthy social marketing campaign, and Dulaney presented her senior honors thesis, an examination of family dynamics and disagreements surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine. Ania Issac – an ADI/ORED Undergraduate Research Scholar with the Gender Impacts Lab at the SSRC – has been awarded an Arts & Sciences Student First Undergraduate Excellence Opportunity (SFUEO) Award from Mississippi State University. The funds will be used by Ania to conduct field-based research in Zambia in Summer 2022 for the FishFirst! Zambia project under the direct supervision and mentorship of Drs. Kathleen Ragsdale and Mary Read-Wahidi. Ania was selected as an ADI/ORED Undergraduate Research Scholar by the Division of Access, Diversity, and Inclusion (ADI) in collaboration with the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED).
Dr. Kathleen Ragsdale served as a Judge at the 2022 Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium, which was held at Mississippi State University on April 13.
Khirsten J. Wilson was awarded the Student Travel Award from the Association for Psychological Science to attend their annual conference in Chicago, Illinois (2022, May). This award is valued at $850 and includes complimentary registration and a $200 cash award granted directly to recipients to mitigate the cost of attending.

On the Horizon
Tockie V. Hemphill will serve as Proposal Reviewer for the American Evaluation Association’s Evaluation 2022 Conference for the American Evaluation Association Leadership and Performance (LOP) Topical Interest Group (TIG) as well as the Assessment in Higher Education TIG. Hemphill will review paper presentations, workshop presentations, panel discussions, and poster presentations. Ratings will be made for each proposal based on descriptions of how the work meets AEA standards and abstract content. The conference will be held November 7 – 12, 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
